This torii marks the entrance to the Japanese Garden at Butchart Gardens. Jennie Butchart hired Isaburo Kishida, who'd previously designed the tea garden at Esquimalt Gorge Park, to design the garden around 1910, on the grounds north of the family residence, Benvenuto.
