The Hachiman Jinja in Saipan was established in the 1930s, when the island was part of the Japanese Empire. The shrine survived World War II and was renovated in the 1970s. By 2011, the torii, while still standing, was badly decaying and hosted a termite infestation. As of 2021, the torii no longer stands.
