This torii guards the entrance to the Santuário Hōzō, at the spiritual training academy of Seichō-no-Ie do Brasil in Ibiúna. The sanctuary was built in 1956 in Assaí, Paraná, by the carpenter Shitiro Fujiwara, then transported to Ibiúna and inaugurated in April 1957. The original wooden shinmei torii followed in 1964, its dimensions specified by Seichō-no-Ie's founder, Masaharu Taniguchi.
