At least two torii feature in the Buenos Aires Japanese Garden, which the city's Japanese community funded and built in just fifty days to mark the first visit of Japan's imperial family to Argentina. Crown Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko presided over its inauguration on 17 May 1967, and the garden was declared a national site of historic and artistic interest in 2008.
