This large torii spans Rua Galvão Bueno in the heart of Liberdade, São Paulo's historic Japanese district. Erected in 1974, during the same campaign that gave the neighborhood its paper-lantern-style street lamps, it has become a symbol of the district itself and a popular photo stop for visitors.
