Nambei Daijingu Torii

This torii stands at the Templo Xintoísta do Brasil, also called the Nambei Daijingu — the "Great Shrine of South America" — in São Paulo's Vila Clementino district. Its founder, Kazuo Osaka, born into a seventeen-generation Shinto lineage and formerly a priest at Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha at Mount Fuji, came to Brazil in 1978 after what he describes as a divine call to bring Amaterasu's blessing across the ocean; he held ceremonies in a rented house for two decades before inaugurating the temple around 2000. The torii was completed in 2009, counted by the Nikkey Shimbun's national survey as Brazil's 47th.
