Multiple torii stand on the grounds of the Paulista Jinja, founded in 1973 and claiming to be the only Shinto shrine in the west of São Paulo state. Its grounds follow traditional Japanese shrine architecture executed in Brazilian materials, with a temizuya, haiden, and auxiliary shrines — two of them dedicated, in a Brazilian syncretic turn, to Our Lady and Saint Sebastian alongside the enshrined Amaterasu-ōmikami. The shrine is best known for its annual blessing of cars, where a priest purifies attendees' vehicles one by one. Its exact location, in the rural Barrocão neighborhood south of Avaí, has not been confirmed.
