This torii stands by a gazebo in Torii Square Park. The current torii was erected when the city renovated the park in 2013. The park itself was dedicated in 1975 by the Westminster Rotary Club in memory of Yuko Nakamura Kishimoto, a Japanese exchange student at Westminster High School who died in 1974 at age 25; its plaque reads, "Her untimely death is memorialized to remind us that sharing, as life itself, goes on forever." Fourteen cherry trees planted in 2022 carry on the park's Japanese theme. A wooden torii stood in this spot from the date of the park's dedication.
