Seward Park Torii (Former)

Sponsored by the Seattle Japanese Chamber of Commerce for the 1934 International Potlatch festival, this torii originally stood on University Street in downtown Seattle, between 4th and 5th Avenues. The following spring it was moved to the entry isthmus of Seward Park — joining the park's cherry trees and eight-ton stone lantern — where it presided over festivals and gatherings until Seattle Parks removed it in the mid-1980s after decades of decay. It was eventually replaced by the current Seward Park Torii.
